I know to everyones surprise, here is another post, back to back days. Today I have a special interview with major talent, UberVice. I started talking with him when he joined the BOOM Movement ( with me and he was happy to give me an interview for the site. I was not original in any way with the questions but it gives a great insight into what Evan is up to and what he has plans for the future. Read up on this guy, check out his music, like him on facebook, follow him on twitter and keep your eyes open in the future!

What’s your name? How old are you? Where you from?

My name is Evan Weiss and I’m 21-years-old. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and I currently live in Columbia, Missouri where I attend Mizzou.

Why do you call yourself UberVice?

It was a nickname that sort of caught on in highschool. I had a buddy that worked at Oberweis ice cream so naturally I visited him so I could get some free ice cream. My last name is pronounced “Vice” in German and one of my highschool teachers would call me Mr. “Vice.” So between those two frequent occurrences the name UberVice was born. Weiss also means “white” in German so you could also say that I’m super-white. Because I’m super white.

Why’d you start producing/mixing and who are your biggest inspirations?

I was the drummer/producer in an indie/electronic band so I learned how to produce during the 3 years we were together. I reeeaaally got into electronic music after I saw Boys Noize and MSTRKRFT live at Lollapalooza in ’08. I was heavy into metal and hardcore at the time and the energy at that show far surpassed anything I’d ever seen before. The final blow was (cliche) Deadmau5. I sold my soul after that.

What kind of sound are you going for?

Whatever comes out of my brain.

Best show you’ve ever been to?

Best rock show: Tool. Best EDM show: Deadmau5 or BT.

Favorite Performance/Venue?

That’s a hard one. I’d say my biggest crowd was at DAYGLOW. However, I gotta say I love my residency at Tonic in Columbia, MO. It’s weekly mayhem. Someone is either naked, throwing up, throwing things, or dancing on objects.

What are your preferred tools of the trade?

I use Ableton Live for producing. I’ve got a Moog Slim Phatty and a Microkorg XL that get frequent use. I use an NS7 when I play out. I love it.

What do you like about performing?

My favorite part of performing is making the crowd go “OOOOOOOOOOOH!!” (you know that sound). There’s no other feeling like it. You know you’re doing your job as a DJ and you know everyone is having an excellent time.

Do you get nervous before you go on stage?

More often than not, yes. You’re not going to get better if you’re not leaving your comfort zone and trying new things out.

Any lessons or all self-taught? Any background in music or other instruments?

I’m self-taught. I find that I learn better if I just dive in and figure things out myself. However, I’ve also learned a lot from DJ Gizmo and DJ Deks (2 other DJs in my town). As for drumming, I had a teacher for 6 years.

Future Plans?

I’m currently in negotiation with a label to get my debut EP out in the Fall. I’ll also be playing at Pulse in St. Louis alongside names like Above & Beyond, Morgan Page, and Krewella. And I’m working closely with my sponsor BOOM Movement headphones on throwing several events in the Midwest over the summer. I’m extremely excited for the next couple months and I want to thank everyone who’s believed in me and helped me out!

Evan also included some cool videos of him opening for some pretty big names around his campus:

So now that we have the interview out of the way, its time for some new music. First up we have a song that was introduced to me by a friend of mine and I cannot start to express my gratitude. Tommy Trash has been growing in my iTunes with every week it seems and I am finally bursting to put some of his music up. His latest track is the purpose of this post though, as he has taken Deadmau5’s VELDT and turned it into something insane. I am a huge lover of the original so obviously this remix had to be epic for me to like it. I cannot say enough how important it is for you to listen to this track:
I’ve also got a preview here of what I presume is going to be his next release:
Next up, I’ve got the most recent drop from Flosstradamus. His new track, Lana’s Theme, has received an immense amount of love in the last 24 hours since it’s release. So give it a listen and see what all the hype is about!
Finally, we will finish off with a little wobbly love from Griz. This guy is honestly the king of making a chill track shake your bones. His remix of Behind Blue Eyes by The Who was insanity and I know I listened to that track far too many times. So this track is no different and I am telling you, LISTEN TO THIS TRACK!!!!
Alright that its for day two on this bender writing spree. I’ll keep the coming if you keep supporting!

EDC NYC = Holy Shit

I know I’m late on this but it had to be perfect. Hopefully after going through this post, you will understand! Two weekends ago, New York City got their first taste of the EDC experience and what an experience it was. Even though it was technically held in New Jersey every DJ gave shout out’s to NYC, which definitely validated the EDC NYC tag line. Considering this was the first EDC in NYC the fans and the Insomniac team were excited to see how it would turn out and it definitely exceeded expectations.

EDC is known for their performers and the variety of costumes and concepts. It was great to see the toxic bunnies, the mimes, and the harley quinns in person. Even though almost every set had a group of performers on their stage they also walked around through out the crowd and interacted with everyone. My only problem was there were a lot of great DJ’s playing at the same time, which i guess is a problem for every festival. Especially on Saturday when you had a star packed line-up with Steve Angello, Armin Van Buuren, and Avicii all playing at the same time.

Even though the stage inside the stadium wasn’t considered the main stage it certainly felt like it at night. Steve Angello closed out Saturday night on his Size Matters stage in the stadium, and the open arena quality of the stadium stage especially at night made it look and sound amazing. My two favorite stages had to be Size Matters and ASOT. Size Matters had a pretty solid line up with great DJ’s such as Thomas Gold, AN21 and Max Vangeli, and Tim Mason.

I wouldn’t say i’m a huge fan of Trance but the ASOT stage was one of the best stages. With such big house names playing on Saturday songs started to get kind of repetitive through out the day so going to the ASOT stage was a great change of pace. There were a lot of names that played there that I never heard of but had amazing sets such as Tritonal and Rank 1. Armin closed his stage with an amazing set and had the most energy I saw that day.

Sunday was definitely a dirty dutch and bass day with big names such as Bassnectar, Afrojack, Chuckie, Nero, and R3hab. I definitely liked a lot of the talent on Afrojack’s jacked stage. Chuckie definitely surprised me on Sunday with his set. I’ve heard other festival sets of his and they were alright but I was blown away by how good this set was. He started off Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York which was a great surprise. He then went in to the latest hit 1,2,3,4 ( i’m surprised not a lot of other DJ’s played that track this weekend) which went right in to “Who’s Ready To Jump?” another Chuckie classic. I ended my night with Nero who had a great light show and a solid set, which was a great way to end a perfect weekend.

Pasquale has already mentioned through tweets that there will definitely be another EDC NYC next year and of course I already can’t wait. Below are some of the live sets from this weekend with tracklists. I’ll be adding more once they become available.

Sunday Rage

It’s been a while since my last post…what else is new?. Though my frequency in posts can be very inconsistent, it is only because I’m scouring the internet for some dope tunes to share with you. I collected many new songs over these past few weeks so be prepared for a summer of exquisite bass. For now I’m gonna lay the highly anticipated Knife Party EP on you guys. Rage Valley was finally released on beatport today and I must say…holy fuck. Sticking to their 4 song precedent with 100% No Modern Talking, the Australian duo has provided the music world with 4 of the greatest songs I have ever had the pleasure to rage inside my head. It is clear to me now that these guys are the Gods of Rage and must be worshipped properly. Sacrifice your stress to the Gods and partake in the rage ritual, holding nothing back. I must caution you though, this ain’t no beginner type shit. Experienced ragers only, newbies require supervision.

Rage Valley

Sleaze (feat. Mistajam)

Bonfire has to be the grimiest song I have ever heard, rage for days.

Tunesday Tuesday?

So I know it’s been a couple weeks since my last post, but we’ve all been busy and slacking so I’m sorry that I’m not sorry. Anyways, instead of dragging on about my excuses for not making my last two posts I’m just gonna make this one nice and short.  With the help of coldsmoke and my other UNH buddies, I’ve been slowly getting back into hip-hop, which also means that I got some dirty hip-hop dubstep lined up for ya. I don’t care if you’re not usually a fan of dubstep, click play and shut the hell up. Too many people don’t give dubstep a chance because they’re too used to the meaningless tunes with the shittiest lyrics that is being spoon-fed to them by the radio and iTunes. Fuck that, EDM is the truth and if you think that songs like Call Me Maybe are actually good, than you need to shoot yourself (though it is pretty damn catchy). Here’s some tunes you fuckers.

Darude – Sandstorm (Candyland’s OG Remix)

Rick Ross – Hustlin’ (Candyland Remix)

Waka Flocka Flame – Hard In Da Paint (Crizzly Remix)

Flosstradamus – Total Recall

Here’s a remix my buddy released earlier this week. Look for big things to come from this kid.

Kanye West – Mercy (CRNKN Remix)

Zeds Dead & Omar LinX – You and I

Zeds Dead & Omar LinX – Jackie Boy 2.0

Those last two tunes came off a HUGE 7 song EP, Zeds Dead killin the dubstep beats and Omar spittin some meaningful lyrics…pure poetry. Anyone can say rack city into a mic 5 times in a row and talk about money and bitches, shit’s so spoon-fed you don’t even know it. Time for the truth to take over your iTunes.

Everything EDM: Rage or Chill? Both?

This weeks post is gonna be a quick one because, let’s face it, this is a lazy weekend and I’m exhausted from all the rage that got thrown down this week. Justbustin and I hit up the Feed Me and Kill The Noise concert on thursday night which was everything I ever imagined. We raged hard all night long and raged with everything we had. Both artists more than tickled my fancy and left the crowd with broken legs and enlightened minds. Although the bass at the club was less than satisfactory, I still felt it penetrating my skin and shaking my bones; can’t wait to see them again sometime. This week I have some tunes that are sure to get you raging right off the bat, and also some tunes that put you in the mood for some chillin, straight chillin; enjoy.

Feed Me – Trapdoor (feat. Hadouken!) [rage]

Dillon Francis & Kill The Noise – Dill The Noise [rage]

Rita Ora – R.I.P. (Delta Heavy Remix) [rage]

Gramatik – Talkbox Intended [chill]

Pretty Lights – We Must Go On [chill]

Manic Focus – Zeleke’s Magic Bass [chill]

Just to emphasize how awesome this song is (since Lushous snagged it first), I’ve decided to post it anyways

Skrillex – Ruffneck (Alvin Risk Remix) [rage]

Kill The Noise – Dying (Brown & Gammon Remix) [super rage]

Break Science – Wisdom of Antiquity [mega chill]

That’s all for this week; next saturday I’ll be hittin you with some tunes off my set list for my next gig on April 18. Enjoy the holiday weekend and let these tunes fuel your week (and drunken easter egg hunts? yeah, your drunken easter egg hunts).

What A Week In The #Digital Era

As promised, this week was SOOO much better than last, to the point that I’m overwhelmed with all of the quality music put out. Before I provide the download links to Young Roddy’s “Good Sense” mixtape and Gramatik’s “#digitalfreedom” mixtape, I wan’t to share two top-notch freestyles put out this week. And yes, this shit is off the dome, none of that pre-written bullshit (with the exception of some of A$AP’s verses). Oh and if you click on the freestyles, WATCH ALL OF THEM! I promise it’s worth your time!

Soul Assassins Radio Freestyle – Los

My Favourite Verse – A$AP Rocky

For those of you who don’t know Young Roddy, he’s part of Curren$y’s crew, The JETS. Roddy just released his first solo mixtape April 1st, and I must say, it’s pretty dope. If you listen to any one song, I suggest “Trapologists”. Just Enjoy This Shit!

Download: Trapologist ft. Nesby Phips – Young Roddy

Download: Russian Roulette ft. Smoke Dza – Young Roddy

Download: LM Bravehearts – Young Roddy

Download: What That Is Ft. Curren$y – Young Roddy

Download: Freedom of Speech – Young Roddy

Although Gramatik’s new mixtape has MUCH more of a dubstep feel, I can’t help but post it. The typical Gramatik genre is that of a Hip-Hop/Electro feel, which I always dig. But I must say, he does a great job with this one!

Download: 23 Flavors – Gramatik

As always, I encourage each and everyone of you to go out and download the full mixtape for any artist I post. With that being said here are the links for both “Good Sense” and “#digitalfreedom”. Support these dudes and go download them!!

Good Sense – Young Roddy

#digitalfreedom – Gramatik

Life Without EDM Isn’t Life at All

Before I start my post I would like to point out the utter disappointment followed by sheer excitement that went down last night. So, as some of you may know, Porter Robinson was booked to play at The Junkyard in Nashua, NH last night (same club I played at 2 weeks ago). Unfortunately, his flight from Detroit was cancelled so he couldn’t show…shitty. However, because I bought my ticket ahead of time, I got in to the club for free and will get to see Porter for free when he plays in a few weeks at the same club. So pumped for that shit, you have no idea (I’ll keep you guys updated on the date for when he’s comin up).

So, now that my little story is over, it’s time to jump into this weeks tunes to rage to. I’m very excited about this post due to the epicness of the music that was released this week as well as the tunes I recently discovered hiding in my iTunes.  First off, since I’m so angry I couldn’t make the Excision concert in Worcester tonight, here’s some of his tunes, old and new, that will definitely help me get out some anger.

Excision – X Rated (feat. Messinian)

Excision & Downlink – The Underground

Excision & Downlink – Headbanga

Next up I have some good vibes coming at you from the beautiful world of House Music. In case you live under a rock, this past week was the Winter Music Conference (Ultra Music Festival, IDMAs, basically pure dance rage oozing all over Miami) and many artists released some new tunes that are sure to rock your world and leave you wanting more. Grab these up before they are no longer considered new.

Martin Solveig – The Night Out (Madeon Remix) [full version]

Porter Robinson – Language [new and certifiably amazing]

Skrillex – Ruffneck VIP

While Deadmau5 continued to advocate the boycotting of Ultra, he teamed up with some talented artists (the likes of Feed Me and Kill The Noise) to produce two life-altering tracks, though some people don’t know how to appreciate them.

mau5hax – Fractals

mau5hax – Titty Sprinkles

Lastly, I got some chunes both old and new that I just cannot seem to stop listening to. They’re catchy, they’re funky, and most importantly, they get me ready to rage.

Oasis – Wonderwall (Milo & Otis Remix)

Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl – In My Mind (Axwell Remix)(Special Features Edit)

Here’s a remix from my homie CRNKN, this man is playing with Robotic Pirate Monkey this weekend and has been producing for only 6 months…respect.

Justice – D.A.N.C.E. (CRNKN Bootleg)

Flosstradamus – Total Recall

That’s it for this post my people; remember, an hour of rage everyday keeps the doctor away. Turn the speakers up, let the liquor flow, close your eyes, and let the music do the rest. Made love for y’all.

The Time Has Come

So I definitely dropped the ball these past two saturdays, but I have a more than proper excuse. Two fridays ago I was offered an opening set at a club in Nashua for an EDM dance party called Symmetry. With the gig scheduled for last wednesday I immediately got to work on my set-list, completely forgetting to work on my BombBeats post for the following night. Last saturday was less of set-list of preparation and more of just reliving the moment over and over again as I am still in awe of my first live show. Not only was I invited back to the club for a future gig, but I also made a connection to book a show in Boston over the summer, which will undoubtedly be the most amazing thing to ever happen to me. Having said all this, I have another change to make, this time it’s staying put. From this point on I will no longer go by polAris, but by the name I thought of a week before the show; NASS. Although there wasn’t too big of a crowd for my set, all my friends came out and supported me while I fueled their dance floor rage. For this post I’m gonna hit you with some tunes off my set-list, along with some ones that have been catching my attention in iTunes.

First I wanna include the three songs off my set that I was most amped about. Lately I’ve been getting into the 110 scene. Traditional dubstep is produced at either 70 or 140 bpm, while house and electro stay in the range of 120-130. Very recently however, music at 110 bpm has been gaining popularity and it is blowing my mind. Moombahton kills it every time I hear a new song and 110 is perfect for it, but if you take away the Reggaeton influence, you’re left with a song that can slam any dance floor. Here are some 110 tunes that I just cannot stop listening to.

Nero – Must Be The Feeling (Delta Heavy Remix)

Porter Robinson – Unison (Knife Party Remix) [previously posted]

Kill The Noise – Kill The Noise (Dillon Francis Remix)

fun. – We Are Young (Alvin Risk Remix)

Chuckie – Who Is Ready To Jump (Dillon Francis Remix)

Feed Me – One Click Headshot

Here are a few songs that range in variety from trippy all the way to demonic in nature, but they’re just so good.

Coyote Kisses – Acid Wolfpack

Manic Focus – Circles

Kill The Noise – Kill The Noise (Part 1)

Lastly I have some hard-hitting electro tunes, some of which were on my set-list. To me, there’s nothing better than a real rager of a tune that can get the crowd going and the party moving.

Swedish House Mafia & Knife Party – Antidote (Tommy Trash Remix)

Nicky Romero – Toulouse

Kaskade – Dynasty (Dada Life Remix)

Tommy Trash – Cascade

That’s it for my post this week, hopefully this selection of bangers, ragers, and chill beats makes up for the absence of my last two posts. Keep an eye out for some more Cosmic Rage from me and Lushous and I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated on any future shows that get lined up. Until next time, rage your fuckin faces off.

Welcome to another Lushous Friday Night at I am sure everybody is loving this weather right now, summer sure seems like its here already. With that said though, I somehow still have two weeks of skiing left! To the task at hand though, getting your weekend ready for raging! First up, I have my newest love coming from Seven Lions. Their remix of Florence and The Machines Cosmic Love is exactly what I love about the direction dubstep is going in. Sounding very similar to adventure club, Seven Lions has found that beautiful blend of bass wobble and soft lyrics. As I could probably ramble on for hours about this track, I will stop now. Just listen to this track and look at this weather, feels like it could be a summer anthem!

Another preview, this time working with TheVeldt by Deadmau5. This remix is a vocal work being done by Chris James. Its a very mellow track and the lyrics definitely help to bring it all together. Very appropriate music for how relaxed everybody is feeling with this weather!

Last up, keeping with the trends of remix and previews, we have Madeon. Throwing down his rendition of The Night Out – Martin Solveig, he proves to the world over and over again that he is the future of EDM. The quality is not perfect given that it is a radio rip from BBC Radio 1 but it is only the world exclusive release and clearly not finished yet! Look closely in the next few weeks as he perfects the track and gives it to the world!

So theres another Friday Night down powered by yours truly. Bask in these sunny rays while they last!

New Shtuff

Hello there, friends. This has been one of the better weeks for releases that I’ve seen in a while. The day after my last post OWSLA dropped the most absolutely insane mixtape ever featuring all of their signed artists (Skrillex, Stratus, The M Machine, and many more), and just today ZEDS DEAD released a free hip-hop infused album, some old songs and some new. Other than that, I found a  big handful of tunes that just kick ass. As promised in last week’s post, some House music will be provided. Also, I love my girlfriend Hannah Marlin because we’ve been dating for almost two years and she’s awesome.

First off, click this link to get the free download of OWSLA’s Free Treats mixtape. I’ll include a few Souncloud tracks of my favorites off the mixtape if you’re not into downloading entire sets of songs.

This first song just has the most commanding drop ever, so you have to download it.

Next is a dubstep track which features a really cool sample about chess, which is why you have to download this too.

Not many people know Stratus for his originals due to his fame for remixing, so here’s a taste of his OG talent.

Last off the mixtape is not only my favorite track, but new favorite artist Nick Thayer. Recently signed to OWSLA, he is making a name for himself as the king of electro. I don’t even want to try and describe how insane his songs are because I would only be doing them injustice. Thayer has a few tracks on his Souncloud for free download, so get over there and snatch them. This track features a short build that seamlessly transitions into the coolest fucking I-don’t-even-know-what-to-call-it synthfucker of a jam. Give this man a listen, you won’t be disappointed.

As usual, I’ve gotta promote my all-time favorite EDM producers Synchronice. These brothers have too much talent to offer, and with every one of their songs we see more of that talent. Their new track “Jackhammer” was released in celebration of their 1,500 Facebook fans, and it’s completely amazing. The quality is perfect, and it combines their ability to blend House and harder electro/dub elements into an air-tight banger that’s sure to melt your pants off. I have no idea how these kids aren’t headlining events like EDC, because their skills are on par with the best of the best. The download limit has been reached for this particular Soundcloud link, but keep an eye out on their Facebook page because the Hulkshare link should be up soon. Look out for these guys, they’re here to stay.

And now for some House music. To start I’ve got a pretty sweet David Guetta remix of “Without You” (don’t be afraid, this one’s actually good). The vocals don’t lose any of their power while the synths and bass are far from overbearing. Give it a listen!

Next I’ve got a Kevin Alves remix of Ecotek’s “Forget About Tomorrow.” This song is pretty fun, each verse is full of energy and it’s definitely something to jam out to on the dance floor.

These next few songs are all originals by Walden, and 18-year old producer from Down Under. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Walden brings a slightly Daft Punk-y sound to his tracks, giving them heavy vibes and strong leads which make for the perfect dance floor duo.

That’s about all I’ve got for this week. From now on I’ll be trying to bring more House to the table. The only problem with House music now is that it’s becoming so popular that big-name artists can’t release anything for free anymore or else the demand for their shows would significantly diminish. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks. Enjoy the chunes, my friends.
