Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad

Hey everybody!  Hope your finals went well and your holiday shopping is going just as well (let’s face it, it probably isn’t..).  Today is my first regular Tuesday post in a while, and I plan on keeping them going now that I have plenty of time over the break.

Today’s post is all about a band that I have just recently discovered, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad.  While the name may sound intimidating to new-comers, these guys are from it.  Hailing from Rochester, NY, they released their debut album “Slow Down” in 2006 and began touring relentlessly, playing around 500 shows between 2006 and 2009.  GPGDS (as they are often abbreviated) are noted for their fun and “jam-based” live shows, in which they are adamant in following an “analog only” approach with their music.  Their keyboardist Aaron Lipp provides this sound using his vintage Hammond B3 Organ, in addition to the boys’ incorporation of slide guitar, banjo, melodica, harmonica, and various percussion.  The band has an extensive collection of live recordings that are available for download on their website http://livepanda.com/, which also features a FREE 4 song download from their 2nd live album entitled “Live Up!! Volume II”.  GPGDS is playing a few shows just in time for the holidays, as they are currently in the process of mixing a new album “Country”, set for a release on January 31, 2012.

Below I have uploaded a few of my favorite songs from “Slow Down”.

Happy Holidays everyone! Peace!

Sexy Saturday

To my own surprise, I realized today that I have yet to post any songs by a certain duo that I find to be very talented.  Hailing from California, these two music geniuses (I say this because they both attend Stanford) are very good at making both remixes and originals.  Sex Ray Vision quickly became one of my favorite groups to listen to shortly after discovering them late in the summer.  They release new songs quite often and are quickly earning a reputation and building their name; don’t be surprised if these two go international once they graduate.  As they continue to tour around local clubs and get hired for weddings and parties, these guys are gaining the experience necessary for a national tour and even a tour overseas. You can download all of their music for free from their website sexrayvisionmusic.com, but I’ll post the best of the best here for you tonight.  Now that I’m finished with school and on winter break, you can expect to see more in depth posts coming from me, as well as the chance of some polAris originals that are in the making.  Enjoy the music, enjoy the weekend, catch you all on monday for another day of dub.

Sex Ray Vision – Blender

Snow Patrol – Open Your Eyes (Sex Ray Vision Remix)

Sex Ray Vision – Lex Luthor

De-Lor – That We Loved (Sex Ray Vision Remix)

This isn’t a party…it’s a Knife Party

As I struggle to concentrate on studying for finals and with packing up all my belongings to prepare for my semester off, I only have a little time to break for this dubstep post for the day.  Instead of my usual posts for mondays, I’ve decided to post the new EP by the British duo Knife Party entitled 100% No Modern Talking.  These guys come at you with straight fire, combining dubstep and heavy electro to create the perfect rave music.  I don’t know what it is about their music, but I find myself playing the four-song EP on repeat daily and the beats just keeping getting stuck in my head.  Though they aren’t too big yet, you can expect to see much more coming from these guys, more music that will fuel ragers everywhere and keep everybody moving their bodies to the beat. Hope you enjoy these ones as much as I do, might be a good idea to turn your volume all the way up.

Knife Party – Fire Hive

Knife Party – Tourniquet

Knife Party – Destroy Them With Lazers

Knife Party – Internet Friends [previously posted]

Just in case you missed it, I decided to add their remix to Porter Robinson’s Unison which was posted a while back.

Good luck with finals everybody, see you at the end of the week for an end of semester celebration post.

So Many LE7ELS

Imagine a game where no matter how many bosses you beat, the levels just keep coming. Now imagine that those levels are fucking insane; levels where all you have to do is rage your face off to an intoxicating beat that brings pure happiness; levels whose bosses are not evil, but are in fact EDM Gods who help you to rage your face off even harder.  There are no deaths, there are no power-ups, there are no enemies; there is simply joy. Synth lines, bass lines, womps, and wobbles, the keys to your success and eventual domination of raging.  Lot too long ago, an EDM God known simply as Avicii, created the first level of the game that is raging face.  This level brought pure happiness and euphoria to those who dared to enter, and now there are several different LE7ELS in which to continue raging.  Gods such as Cazzette, Clockwork, Hardwell, Haydn Hoffman, FTampa, and of course Skrillex. Together, these Gods have created the ultimate game of raging in which the possibilities are endless.  Ladies and Gentlemen, I bestow upon thee, the greatest game of raging there is…LE7ELS!

A Light Show worth Mentioning

Monday, November 28th: Nokia Lumia Live – Millbank Tower on the banks of River Thames was turned into a living, breathing entity as Nokia celebrated the launch of the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone with the most spectacular light show the capital has ever seen.

Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic Millbank Tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 4D images onto the structure, making it seem like huge butterflies were flying across the London skyline and that the tower was spinning around. Billed as the “future of live events”, the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer Deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance – adding the 4th dimension.

I’ll be back soon, I promise with a lot of long overdue music posts. A few more days and this school releases it’s grasp on my freedom for winter break, who else is ready?

Better Late Than Never

As you can see, neither BLVD or myself made a monday dubstep post yesterday.  I know BLVD was very busy juggling a programming assignment, helping me with ableton, and attempting to kill Russian terrorists while collecting containers of hazardous gas in MW3.  I think I speak for both of us when I say, “sorry, here’s some dope tunes to make up for it.” Yesterday, Boulder natives RPM (Robotic Pirate Monkey) released their new album Colors In Disguise making it completely free.  The entire album is filled with bass and high energy that is guaranteed to put you in a good mood.  There’s probably a bunch of other blogs that posted this yesterday, but we’re the best so get over it.  Enjoy the free tunes and download these songs immediately.

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Hellevator

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Moon on the Man

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Party Animal

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Front Range Feeling

Robotic Pirate Monkey – More Noize

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Rio de Fuego

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Song of the Sirens

Robotic Pirate Monkey – Pantone Polygamy

Robotic Pirate Monkey – We Have No One

Keep it classy everybody, catch you on saturday for another banger post.

Just The Beginning

Woah! Who is this guy? Where the hell is Schillectro?

Whether or not you react that way, it doesn’t matter.  With the beginning of my production career on the horizon, I figured it was time to settle on a name that was more fitting and awesome than the simple Schillectro.  Having said that, it’s time for me to lose the old and bring in the new. PolAris is here and I’m here to stay, this is just the beginning of what I anticipate to be a wonderful music career.  To give you guys insight as to what kind of music I envision producing, I have decided to post songs by artists that I see myself most similar to.  With my love for house and electro and my appreciation for dubstep, I have decided that it is my destiny to produce the perfect mix of all three.  As many of my close friends know, I love to rage.  Whether it’s at THROWED in Boston, at EDM concerts, or even just sitting at my computer listening to music on my beastly speakers; I love to dance, and I love to move my body.  I hope that my music will one day spread it’s reach across the country and hopefully over the pond that we call the Atlantic.  So, I hope you guys enjoy the music I’m about to post and I hope you keep your eyes open for the day when my originals or mixes get posted on this site (among others).  I’m really passionate about music and I’m hoping my love for the party scene will drive me to produce some of the best music this country has ever heard.  Wish me luck everybody; now get ready to rage to some killer tunes. Peace and love, polAris

Talkin’ Bout a Rebelution

Hey guys.  I know that this post is LONG overdue and I apologize.  These last 2 weeks of school are extremely stressful but I will still try my best to get a new post up every week.

Anyways, now that we have moved into that special time of year which we call Decembeard, I thought now would be a good time to write about Rebelution, who have a new TRIPLE ablum dropping on January 10th!!  The album entitled “Peace of Mind” is the boys’ fourth official release and will include the regular studio version, as well as an acoustic and dub version of the album.  You can download FIVE of these brand spankin’ new songs (which also include the other versions) for FREE on their website http://rebelutionmusic.com/.  “Peace of Mind” will also feature guest musicians Lutan Fyah, Jacob Hemphill of SOJA, and interestingly enough, even good ol’ John Popper of Blues Traveler!  In listening to these new songs, I can safely say that this album stays true to Rebelution’s sound, while still  managing to stay fresh by incorporating different elements into their music- horns, cool organ grooves and Popper’s harmonica on “Closer I Get”.  After seeing these guys live, I would also highly recommend that you check them out if you get the chance, which is very possible as they are embarking on a cross-country U.S. tour from January through March!!

Below I have attached 5 new “Peace of Mind” tracks, 3 of which include the guest appearances that I mentioned above.

Download: Sky Is The Limit – Rebelution

Download: Comfort Zone – Rebelution

Download: Good Vibes (Feat. Lutan Fyah) – Rebelution

Download: Meant To Be (Feat. Jacob Hemphill)

Download:Closer I Get (Feat. John Popper)
