Super Pump Sunday

So it has been a while since the last time I’ve posted so I plan to put out a lot of tracks to make up for it.

The first one up is Nicky Romer & ZROQ – WTF!?.  Yes that is the actual name of the track.  A lot of people may have heard bits and pieces of it from Ultra, but its finally out.  Think of a feel good house melody in the breakdown followed by some dirty dutch/ electro and even a bit of dubstep. If you find the drops on most tracks to weak this ones for you

Next up we got Laidback Luke Arno Cost and Norman Doray’s New track Trilogy.  This is a summer tune if I have ever heard one.  Cruising the beach mid day and blasting this.

So the next two up are mashups/Edits by BinXX. Ya thats me.  The first up is and edit/mashup I did of Call Me Maybe. I know a bunch of you out there are thinking god I hate that song and the last thing we need is another Top 40 dj.  Well my version is a little bit different and everyone out there who likes dutch house will be sure to like this one.  If Dada Life can remix Bieber surely I can do Carly Rae Jepsn.  The next one is a mashup/edit I did with levels.  Yes I know we have all heard the song way to many times, but this version takes a spin. Harder hitting drops for all the electro fans and mashed up with calling by Sebastion Ingrosso.

Feel free to send my a message if you have any comments about them!

By now you can probably tell that a lot of the tracks I like are Dutch house.  Last up is Jordy Dazz-OMG. A track named WTF!? and OMG in the same post.  What has this music scene come to. Jordy Dazz does an awesome of building the energy the entire song drop after drop.  See for yourself

Remember if you’re not given’r you’re receiving and that’s never a good place to be.

A Few Videos To Start Off The Summer

After a month of not posting I suppose now is a good time to start doing this, considering it is summer and all. Since the release of The Stoned Immaculate, Tuesday, I haven’t listened to anything else. Therefore, the following is a video of “Capitol” off Curren$y’s new album. You will notice that I haven’t provided a downloadable link. This is because its an ALBUM and that shit aint free! Do me a favor and don’t be a cheap bastard, go drop the ten bucks and support an artist who is worth supporting.

Also, although I tend to try and stay away from posting any mainstream music… The video for Kanye’s “Mercy” just came out yesterday and the visuals are pretty dope. I don’t think any of you need to download this, seeing as you most likely have it.

Check back next thursday to see what I’ve been listening to in the past month, Enjoy!

I know to everyones surprise, here is another post, back to back days. Today I have a special interview with major talent, UberVice. I started talking with him when he joined the BOOM Movement (www.boommovement.com) with me and he was happy to give me an interview for the site. I was not original in any way with the questions but it gives a great insight into what Evan is up to and what he has plans for the future. Read up on this guy, check out his music, like him on facebook, follow him on twitter and keep your eyes open in the future!

What’s your name? How old are you? Where you from?

My name is Evan Weiss and I’m 21-years-old. I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and I currently live in Columbia, Missouri where I attend Mizzou.

Why do you call yourself UberVice?

It was a nickname that sort of caught on in highschool. I had a buddy that worked at Oberweis ice cream so naturally I visited him so I could get some free ice cream. My last name is pronounced “Vice” in German and one of my highschool teachers would call me Mr. “Vice.” So between those two frequent occurrences the name UberVice was born. Weiss also means “white” in German so you could also say that I’m super-white. Because I’m super white.

Why’d you start producing/mixing and who are your biggest inspirations?

I was the drummer/producer in an indie/electronic band so I learned how to produce during the 3 years we were together. I reeeaaally got into electronic music after I saw Boys Noize and MSTRKRFT live at Lollapalooza in ’08. I was heavy into metal and hardcore at the time and the energy at that show far surpassed anything I’d ever seen before. The final blow was (cliche) Deadmau5. I sold my soul after that.

What kind of sound are you going for?

Whatever comes out of my brain.

Best show you’ve ever been to?

Best rock show: Tool. Best EDM show: Deadmau5 or BT.

Favorite Performance/Venue?

That’s a hard one. I’d say my biggest crowd was at DAYGLOW. However, I gotta say I love my residency at Tonic in Columbia, MO. It’s weekly mayhem. Someone is either naked, throwing up, throwing things, or dancing on objects.

What are your preferred tools of the trade?

I use Ableton Live for producing. I’ve got a Moog Slim Phatty and a Microkorg XL that get frequent use. I use an NS7 when I play out. I love it.

What do you like about performing?

My favorite part of performing is making the crowd go “OOOOOOOOOOOH!!” (you know that sound). There’s no other feeling like it. You know you’re doing your job as a DJ and you know everyone is having an excellent time.

Do you get nervous before you go on stage?

More often than not, yes. You’re not going to get better if you’re not leaving your comfort zone and trying new things out.

Any lessons or all self-taught? Any background in music or other instruments?

I’m self-taught. I find that I learn better if I just dive in and figure things out myself. However, I’ve also learned a lot from DJ Gizmo and DJ Deks (2 other DJs in my town). As for drumming, I had a teacher for 6 years.

Future Plans?

I’m currently in negotiation with a label to get my debut EP out in the Fall. I’ll also be playing at Pulse in St. Louis alongside names like Above & Beyond, Morgan Page, and Krewella. And I’m working closely with my sponsor BOOM Movement headphones on throwing several events in the Midwest over the summer. I’m extremely excited for the next couple months and I want to thank everyone who’s believed in me and helped me out!

Evan also included some cool videos of him opening for some pretty big names around his campus:

So now that we have the interview out of the way, its time for some new music. First up we have a song that was introduced to me by a friend of mine and I cannot start to express my gratitude. Tommy Trash has been growing in my iTunes with every week it seems and I am finally bursting to put some of his music up. His latest track is the purpose of this post though, as he has taken Deadmau5′s VELDT and turned it into something insane. I am a huge lover of the original so obviously this remix had to be epic for me to like it. I cannot say enough how important it is for you to listen to this track:
I’ve also got a preview here of what I presume is going to be his next release:
Next up, I’ve got the most recent drop from Flosstradamus. His new track, Lana’s Theme, has received an immense amount of love in the last 24 hours since it’s release. So give it a listen and see what all the hype is about!
Finally, we will finish off with a little wobbly love from Griz. This guy is honestly the king of making a chill track shake your bones. His remix of Behind Blue Eyes by The Who was insanity and I know I listened to that track far too many times. So this track is no different and I am telling you, LISTEN TO THIS TRACK!!!!
Alright that its for day two on this bender writing spree. I’ll keep the coming if you keep supporting!

EDC NYC = Holy Shit

I know I’m late on this but it had to be perfect. Hopefully after going through this post, you will understand! Two weekends ago, New York City got their first taste of the EDC experience and what an experience it was. Even though it was technically held in New Jersey every DJ gave shout out’s to NYC, which definitely validated the EDC NYC tag line. Considering this was the first EDC in NYC the fans and the Insomniac team were excited to see how it would turn out and it definitely exceeded expectations.

EDC is known for their performers and the variety of costumes and concepts. It was great to see the toxic bunnies, the mimes, and the harley quinns in person. Even though almost every set had a group of performers on their stage they also walked around through out the crowd and interacted with everyone. My only problem was there were a lot of great DJ’s playing at the same time, which i guess is a problem for every festival. Especially on Saturday when you had a star packed line-up with Steve Angello, Armin Van Buuren, and Avicii all playing at the same time.

Even though the stage inside the stadium wasn’t considered the main stage it certainly felt like it at night. Steve Angello closed out Saturday night on his Size Matters stage in the stadium, and the open arena quality of the stadium stage especially at night made it look and sound amazing. My two favorite stages had to be Size Matters and ASOT. Size Matters had a pretty solid line up with great DJ’s such as Thomas Gold, AN21 and Max Vangeli, and Tim Mason.

I wouldn’t say i’m a huge fan of Trance but the ASOT stage was one of the best stages. With such big house names playing on Saturday songs started to get kind of repetitive through out the day so going to the ASOT stage was a great change of pace. There were a lot of names that played there that I never heard of but had amazing sets such as Tritonal and Rank 1. Armin closed his stage with an amazing set and had the most energy I saw that day.

Sunday was definitely a dirty dutch and bass day with big names such as Bassnectar, Afrojack, Chuckie, Nero, and R3hab. I definitely liked a lot of the talent on Afrojack’s jacked stage. Chuckie definitely surprised me on Sunday with his set. I’ve heard other festival sets of his and they were alright but I was blown away by how good this set was. He started off Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York which was a great surprise. He then went in to the latest hit 1,2,3,4 ( i’m surprised not a lot of other DJ’s played that track this weekend) which went right in to “Who’s Ready To Jump?” another Chuckie classic. I ended my night with Nero who had a great light show and a solid set, which was a great way to end a perfect weekend.

Pasquale has already mentioned through tweets that there will definitely be another EDC NYC next year and of course I already can’t wait. Below are some of the live sets from this weekend with tracklists. I’ll be adding more once they become available.

Sunday Rage

It’s been a while since my last post…what else is new?. Though my frequency in posts can be very inconsistent, it is only because I’m scouring the internet for some dope tunes to share with you. I collected many new songs over these past few weeks so be prepared for a summer of exquisite bass. For now I’m gonna lay the highly anticipated Knife Party EP on you guys. Rage Valley was finally released on beatport today and I must say…holy fuck. Sticking to their 4 song precedent with 100% No Modern Talking, the Australian duo has provided the music world with 4 of the greatest songs I have ever had the pleasure to rage inside my head. It is clear to me now that these guys are the Gods of Rage and must be worshipped properly. Sacrifice your stress to the Gods and partake in the rage ritual, holding nothing back. I must caution you though, this ain’t no beginner type shit. Experienced ragers only, newbies require supervision.

Rage Valley

Centipede

Bonfire

Sleaze (feat. Mistajam)

Bonfire has to be the grimiest song I have ever heard, rage for days.

Gettin’ Dubby at the Middle East

Hey ya’ll.  Its been a good long time since I last blogged because of finals, moving out and laziness.  So, before I begin this post, let me officially “dub” this post, (pun intended) the first post of the summer!!  Last Friday, I had the pleasure of seeing friends Dubbest (I think for the third time) open up for none other than N.Y.’s very own Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (GPGDS) at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA.  Although I encountered some troubles finding the venue and parking to say the least, (ended up paying $30 just for parking!!!) it was well worth it.  The show started out fairly small as you would expect on a Thursday, with mostly friends, family and big fans catching Dubbest rip it up as they always do.  As the guys finished up their set, I noticed that the audience had grown considerably since they started, and everyone seemed pretty pumped for the next opener, Tubby Love, a band I had never heard before.  After hearing them play for almost an hour, I had become a fan.  The dreaded lead singer was captivating on both guitar and vocals, jamming out with the organ/keyboard player who also happens to be in GPGDS.  Tubby also incorporated a couple cool things into their set, including a sick rastafarian dude rapping, a soulful young girl named Emily Elbert who was killing it, a young kid on electric mandolin and even a dope version of Bob Marley’s “Could You Be Loved?”.  Once they had finished up, I now noticed that it seemed the entire room had been filled with sweaty, charged-up fans that were brimming with excitement for the highly-anticipated Giant Panda.  The energy in the room was palpable.  As the GPGDS guys took the stage, the crowd roared with enthusiasm.  They immediately brought the dub, playing fan favorites like “Seasons Change” and “Change You” as well as some brand new songs.  The guys jammed out HARD to say the least, and so did the crowd, spreading the love right back to them.  Giant Panda even brought Tubby Love, Emily and the mandolin dude onstage to play a few songs that they had recorded that day, which were all very funky.  All in all, I left at 12:30 hoping to that I could still get my car out of the garage, but I imagine the Panda guys could’ve easily jammed until 1.  Great show and definitely be sure to check out all of the artists, especially GPGDS who is touring around New England as we speak.

Below I’ve uploaded a couple of my favorite/most popular Dubbest and Giant Panda songs.  Be sure to check out archive.org for live versions of all the bands as well!!

What’s goin’ on, bombers? Yurp, coined a name for all you Bombbeats fans out there. If you will accept my humblest apologies for my 3-4 week hiatus and continue reading this post you’ll find probably find a ton of dope music, old and new, some new artists to be on the lookout for, and a Bombbeats exclusive (yep, exclusive) interview with a new favorite artist of mine, Shreddie Mercury. A few days ago I sent Shreddie a message on Facebook asking if he’d be willing to answer a few questions for a lowly blogmonkey such as myself on behalf of this beautiful blog and he agreed. So, without further delay, I present to you a Bombbeats interview with Shreddie Mercury!

Justin (JO): What’s your name? How old are you? Where you from?

Shreddie Mercury (SM): My name is Jonathan Kane, I’m 22, and I’m from Columbia, Missouri.

JO: Why do you call yourself Shreddie Mercury?

SM: The name started off as a fake moniker for when I’d make bad hip hop beats for my friends to have hilarious “rap battles” over. After a while I started taking production more seriously and just went ahead and kept the dumb name.

JO: Why’d you start producing/mixing and who are your biggest inspirations?

SM: About two years ago I got super into Justice. I came from a hardcore/punk background, and Justice had this gritty, aggressive feel to it but was catchy enough still to be super dancey. I started learning more and more about EDM in general, and decided I wanted to try something like that. As for my inspirations, obviously Justice, as well as Mord Fustang, Porter Robinson, and Zedd. On top of that I still write songs very similar to when I played guitar in my old band, so there’s a lot of post-hardcore elements at play there. Also mix some video games in there.

JO: What kind of sound are you going for?

SM: If I had to put it in a nutshell, house music that nerdy people can get down to as well.

JO:  Best show you’ve ever been to?

SM: Ratatat. I was absolutely floored.

JO:  What are your preferred tools of the trade?

SM:  My “studio” consists of a my Macbook Pro, Ableton Live, and a pair of $30 Altec Lansings I got as a birthday present. As for my performing setup it’s Traktor, and my controller is a Kontrol S2.

JO: What do you like about performing?

SM: It’s such an amazing feeling when you look out at a crowd of people all having a great time to something you made in your basement. I always get the warm fuzzies whenever people tell me they’re into my stuff still too.

JO:  Do you get nervous before you go on stage?

SM:  Oh yeah! I actually get more nervous when there are only a few people. I feel like they’re all judging me instead of dancing, which is probably not true, but still.

JO:  Any lessons or all self-taught? Any background in music or other instruments?

SM: All self-taught actually (thanks YouTube!). I can’t read notes at all and have no formal education with theory. My dad got me into playing guitar when I was eight, but he, too, is self-taught. Aside from that I took a crack at drums for a while, and played the trombone in my middle school band. Does that even count?

JO:  Any big plans for the future?

SM: I’m playing it by ear really. I’ll be playing a couple shows on the east coast this summer that I’m super excited about, but aside from that nothing’s set in stone. To reach even the minute amount of success I have is still unreal to me. I just want to keep producing and see where it gets me.

So there you have it. Forgive me if the questions weren’t incredibly original, I’ve never interviewed anyone before so I figured the simpler the better at this point. I posted a bunch of Shreddie’s music a few weeks ago but in case you were slackin’ hard, i’ll share some below. Give him a follow on Souncloud and like his page on Facebook, it’s the easiest way to find out when and where his music will be released [cough....Beatport in one week...new original...buy it].

Onto some more EDM goodness, I’ve been super into the complextro/dubstep scene recently. My boys The Noisy Freaks, two incredibly talented French men, produce some of the most bangin’ rage tunes I’ve ever heard. Don’t think, just download.

Extra Ball (The Noisy Freaks Remix) – Yuksek

Duel of the Fates (Dead C∆T Bounce & The Noisy Freaks remix) – Star Wars

Crush (The Noisy Freaks Remix) – Irish Steph

Battle (Original Mix) – The Noisy Freaks

Up next I’ve got a bunch of sweet house music from all across the land. Everything from Avicii remixes to some refreshing originals from new kids on the block.

Bengali – Not Another Avicii Track (Original Mix) – Bengali

All You Need Is Love (Bengali & Tjernberg ‘Bring Avicii Back’ Bootleg) – Avicii

We Are Young (D’ANCONIA REMIX) – Fun.

For anyone who isn’t on the Moombahton train, get the fuck on it, every seat is first class. There is prospect of a Moombahtastic duo featuring two of Bombbeat’s sexiest aspiring super stars, NASS Nicky Schilling and your’s truly, Justbustin. In honor of that, give these dudes Milo & Otis a like on Facebook and download anything and everything you can by them. They’re on fire and nobody can put them out.

Friendly City – Milo & Otis

I think I’ll leave you all with that. I’ve gotta get back to studying, finals have been destroying my mind and my will power. Until I write again, rage on, ragers.

- Justin

Tunesday Tuesday?

So I know it’s been a couple weeks since my last post, but we’ve all been busy and slacking so I’m sorry that I’m not sorry. Anyways, instead of dragging on about my excuses for not making my last two posts I’m just gonna make this one nice and short.  With the help of coldsmoke and my other UNH buddies, I’ve been slowly getting back into hip-hop, which also means that I got some dirty hip-hop dubstep lined up for ya. I don’t care if you’re not usually a fan of dubstep, click play and shut the hell up. Too many people don’t give dubstep a chance because they’re too used to the meaningless tunes with the shittiest lyrics that is being spoon-fed to them by the radio and iTunes. Fuck that, EDM is the truth and if you think that songs like Call Me Maybe are actually good, than you need to shoot yourself (though it is pretty damn catchy). Here’s some tunes you fuckers.

Darude – Sandstorm (Candyland’s OG Remix)

Rick Ross – Hustlin’ (Candyland Remix)

Waka Flocka Flame – Hard In Da Paint (Crizzly Remix)

Flosstradamus – Total Recall

Here’s a remix my buddy released earlier this week. Look for big things to come from this kid.

Kanye West – Mercy (CRNKN Remix)

Zeds Dead & Omar LinX – You and I

Zeds Dead & Omar LinX – Jackie Boy 2.0

Those last two tunes came off a HUGE 7 song EP, Zeds Dead killin the dubstep beats and Omar spittin some meaningful lyrics…pure poetry. Anyone can say rack city into a mic 5 times in a row and talk about money and bitches, shit’s so spoon-fed you don’t even know it. Time for the truth to take over your iTunes.

Here we are, another friday and another post. This week was treacherous to say the least but it has finally ended! So to not waste your night, tonight will be short and sweet. First up we have somebody knew to me but none the less worthy of being here. So since I do not have much to say, I will let the song speak for itself, so enjoy:

NExt up tonight we have america’s man, Kaskade. I see a large year coming for Kaskade and this newest release does not change my opinion. I’m not the largest mash-up fan but come on, it’s Kaskade! Plus this isnt just any mash-up, he did it using one of his own tracks. The song, Call out Epic with a solid mash of Sandro Silva and Kaskade himself.

So here we are again, Tiesto making another release and another banger. This guy is never going away and I love it! I am also psyched to see Swanky Tunes making big waves in the EDM world with the help of Tiesto and Club Life. The song, Make Some Noise so why don’ we do just that!

Short and sweet, just like I said. Have a fantastic night and go hard this weekend!

Let’s Get Aggroooo!!

Happy hump day everybody!  If you forgot since my last post, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad released their new album “In These Times” yesterday!!  Definitely give it a listen because you can stream the ENTIRE album on their website, as well as download an awesome 17 song sampler on their website FO’ FREE right here http://giantpandadub.com/site/  On another tangent, Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger(I had no idea they were still around) just announced a tour w/ Suburban Legends, in which they will be playing HOB in Boston and Lupo’s in Providence this June!!!  Set your calendars because RBF puts on a great show, and seeing Goldfinger live would be a very, very rare opportunity.

Now that we’ve taken care of that, its Wednesday once again, which means that I have a fresh reggae band for ya’ll to chiggity check out.  Their name is The Aggrolites and they’ve been bringing their self-proclaimed “dirty reggae” sound to the Los Angeles reggae scene since the early 2000′s.  Forming from the break up of The Vessels and The Rhythm Doctors,  The Aggrolites have since put out 5 full length records, their most recent being “Rugged Road” in 2011, which was their first album with Young Cub Records, a label based out of Boston, Mass.  These cats have an impressive touring resume, which includes serving as the backing band for such music icons as Phyllis Dillon, Prince Buster, an even ex-Hellcat label-mate and Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong.  I personally think that their album with Armstrong,  ”A Poet’s Life”, is an impressive and bold departure for him, since most punk fans have strictly known him as a  punk musician for the past 20 years.  Regardless, The Aggrolites are an extremely tight band-musically and personally- and they put on one hell of a live show from what I remember, as I saw them with Slightly Stoopid a few years back at Lupo’s.  Def give these guys a listen, they won’t dissapoint.  Oh yeah, do yourself a favor and download their new live album “Unleashed Live Vol. 1″ here for FREE http://aggroreggae.com/  You won’t regret it.

Below I have attached some songs from their album IV, as well as songs off of “A Poet’s Life” with Tim Armstrong.  Enjoy!!
